More Retro than Retrospective

For this month's theme, I'd like to share a series of posters I've designed for an upcoming group art show,

The illustrations were created by Kate Thornley and I. It was a fun collab and the overall design ended up looking "retro-modern." The human eyes collaged over the illustrations are meant to represent the theme of the show, which is anthropomorphism - the attribution of human qualities to nonhumans.

It's going to be a fun show! Really great line-up of artists and illustrators.
The show will run from February 2-26 at the Steam Whistle Brewery.
Join us on the opening night, Thursday February 2nd at 7 pm.

For more details, visit the Steam Whistle website here.

See you there!

Occupy Your Heart

This here is my piece for December's theme "Occupy" It's about the way grief occupies your heart and how it pokes through into daily life even when you think you've locked it away.

Freak Show :Final

For this months theme I decided to focus on bullying and being a "freak" in high school. I was certainly considered that way. The base image is a school picture of me from high school grade 9 or 10. I did receive all of those insults and more during my stint in the public school system. That ugly bitch is a person too, treat them with the respect they deserve. If you're going through that, promise high school WILL end and things will get better, hang in there.

Cheers,

Jacquie
